BEAUTIFUL JAPANESE FLOWERS

Peach Blossoms 桃の花 (momo)

Peach tree flowers are known as a decoration during the Japanese spring tradition of Girl’s Day, celebrated on March 3rd. Historically, this was when peach flowers began to bloom, so the occasion is also known as Momo-no-Sekku, or “peach blossom festival.”

Peach flowers were originally said to work as charms to ward off evil spirits, so they became used as ornamentation during Girl’s Day, a festival to wish for the health and development of girls.

Cherry Blossoms 桜 (sakura)

Cherry blossoms are a symbolic flower of the spring, a time of renewal, and the fleeting nature of life. Their life is very short. After their beauty peaks around two weeks, the blossoms start to fall.

During this season in Japan, people like to have cherry blossom parties with colleagues, friends, and family. A cherry blossom makes people merry. They enjoy eating, drinking, and barbecuing underneath the cherry blossoms. We call this custom hanami. Hanami literally means “watching blossoms,” and the tradition can be traced back at least a thousand years.

Plum Blossoms 梅の花 (ume)

As they bloom earlier than other plants, plum blossoms represent the thawing of winter, and the changing of seasons. As such, they’ve come to be known as the heralds of spring.

Typically appearing in February, plum blossoms come to life even while covered in frost. Unfazed by cold, they are associated with good health, strong endurance, and overcoming the adversity of winter.

Additionally, as spring welcomes the farming season, plum blossoms also symbolize prosperity. Bountiful crop harvests and good fortune are likewise associated.

SEE THE MAGIC HAPPEN

Watch Cherry Blossoms Magically Bloom At Dinner!

Astonish your guests with a whimsical magic trick that makes vibrant colorful blossoms appear from thin air, as you fill up these traditional Japanese 'o-choko' 猪口 Sakazuki cups with your most prized sake.

In Japan, very expensive premium sake is served cold, with your choice of Nigori or Ginjo, which has a smooth delicate taste and fuller flavors when served chilled. While traditional 'Junmaishu' or hot sake is best served warm.

Here at SakuraCup, we provide the original Magic Color Changing sake cups that react to either cold, or hot sake or even water/tea.

How The Reaction Works

COLD - Will only react to COLD liquids. Currently our most detailed in color change. Sakura and Peach will bloom PINK, and the Plum specifically blooms RED only in this set.

HOT- Will only react to HOT liquids. All Sakura, Peach, and Plum will change into a LIGHT PINK blossom.

DUAL (HOT & COLD) - Will react to BOTH HOT & COLD liquids. All Sakura, Peach, and Plum will bloom LIGHT PINK when HOT, and BLUE when it is COLD.

Due to the delicate thermal reaction, there are rare cases where certain parts of the world are too hot or too cold that the cups arrive fully bloomed and activated out of the box. In this case, we recommend to serve them at a different season or apply a heating or cooling method to reset the cups back to original blank white with branches. Gentle hand wash is recommended to preserve the longevity of the cups and ink design. We advise against using a dishwasher for our cups.
